Stygofauna (Stygobitic Fauna) Surveys Stygofauna are specially adapted, groundwater-dwelling animals. Biota has an established history of specialist surveys and impact assessment work on this aspect of the Western Australian fauna. Mining proposals and other projects where large-scale aquifer system modification may occur usually require specific consideration of stygofauna impacts.
Troglofauna (Troglobitic Fauna) Surveys Troglobitic fauna are the terrestrial equivalent of stygofauna. Troglofauna live in the air-filled spaces in cavernous ground between the surface and the watertable. Biota has completed a range of specialist surveys and impact assessments focussing on this fauna, including collaboration with the WA Museum and the University of Western Australia. Our staff are experienced in the design of sampling programmes for this fauna and the expectations of government agencies.
